Democracy and Inequality in Latin America. This paper discusses whether or not democracy really exists, or is even possible, in Latin America in light of the acute social, political, and economic inequalities and institutional weaknesses that characterize most of the region. The paper discusses the main problem of inequality existing along economic, racial, gender, and regional lines.
