Boxer Rebellion, Church and State in 1900 This paper explores the political history and missionary experience during the Chinese Boxer Rebellion of 1900, and how the world was outraged by the acts of violence done by everyday citizens. The paper gives a history of both sides of the rebellion and concludes with comparisons to the Iraqi war and the violence of its citizens. However, it is a balanced view, and focuses on the long term effects of the rebellion in China and on the missionaries who were there.
