The Effect of Religion on Traditional Gender Roles: The Reformation of Machismo and dynamic Christianity.
This paper is a book report on The Reformation of Machismo by Elizabeth Brusco. The book itself is about the changes that have taken place in many Colombian men who have converted to Evangelical Christianity (protestantism) from Catholicism. These changes include a renewed involvement with their wives and with the domestic sphere in general, as well as an interest in education and a reduction of destructive behaviors like infidelity, gambling, and excessive drinking. This constitutes the potential for viewing Evangelicalism as a women's movement in Colombia. 5 pgs. Bibliography lists 1 source.
