Deconstructing Gender Discourse This paper discusses the process of deconstructing gender discourse in order to move the discourse beyond ideas of hegemonic masculinity and emphasized femininity as well as the binary construct, male/female, that exists between them, noting how this construct has been reinforced through biologically determinist discourses and suggesting how these discourses can be changed to serve the needs of secondary education.
