Theological Extremism in the United States: An Analysis
This five-page undergraduate paper examines four separate forms of theological extremism at play in the United States: Apocalyptic Cults, Black Hebrew Israelis, the Christian Identity Movement, and various White Supremacy Groups. The author defines each type of extremism, provides examples of groups for each type, and describes the motivation or religious imperative espoused by such groups within each of the four forms. He also emphasizes how their belief systems have been used to justify extremist action including, on some occasions, terrorism.
