This paper is written about Matteo Ricci. Matteo Ricci's story portrays the meeting of two distinct cultures. Ricci was received by the Chinese as a European who had tremendous respect for their culture. That is because he understood that in order to bring Christianity to China, he had to make Christianity Chinese.
