Although known through history as a bloodthirsty horde of conquerors, the Mongols became instrumental to EurasiaÂ’s development. Despite their vicious methods, the Mongol expansion during the twelfth and thirteenth century brought the once isolated sections of Eurasia together, fostering trade routes and cultural exchanges. Through conquest, the Mongols became a coalescing force across the vast continent.
