The Coffee Culture and its Implications to Society
Coffee consumption has been around for more than 1,000 years. In this time, much has changed in the industry. Today, coffee consumption has become a distinct culture, as businesses such as Starbucks establish themselves on street corners around the globe.
This paper will give an overview of the history of coffee, as well as the rise of the chain coffeehouse, by looking at the leading, global coffee chain, StarbucksÂ’, rise to power. Consumer behavior will then be investigated, including why consumers choose to visit coffee shops, as opposed to simply making the beverage for themselves, and what implications this has had on society. Lastly, this paper will discuss what coffee represents to the world and the ideology behind coffee consumption.
