ProchaskaÂ’s Stages of Change Model describes six changes that all people go through in the course of personal change. These stages are: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance and termination. Trudy, the woman in Michael RotheryÂ’s case study, went through the changes involved in leaving an abusive relationship. We can usefully apply ProchaskaÂ’s Stages of Change Model to TrudyÂ’s case, in order to better understand it.
