Music as a Symbol of Political Power. In Wagnerian and Kabuki Opera.
This essay will examine music as a symbol of political power in a number of ways, first by relating it to an opera by Richard Wagner and, second, by relating it to a Chinese Kabuki opera. These instances will show how music has been used to stir political sentiment in people in regard to their nation or country.
