Post-Communist Economic Transformation: An Analysis of Conflict
This seven page postgraduate paper examines post-communist states, where idealistic reformers are seeking to destroy the last vestiges of communist rule while rent-seeking businessmen and corrupt bureaucrats are determined to take advantage of the flawed system for their own personal gain just as their communist predecessors did. In historical terms, the motivations of the reformers and the profiteers are nothing new; they are just being pursued in new ways in a different economic and political setting.
