Consciousness and Self Reference in Relation to Goedel's Theorem This philosophy essay is a discussion of the concepts "free will" and "Determinism," in relation to Goedel's theorem of the inevitable incompleteness of the human mind. Throughout the essay, the problem of relativism and subjectivity is brought forth as a contradiction to ideals of determinism and free will. This essay attempts to prove Geodel is correct in suggesting that human knowledge is always incomplete, and thus knowledge of the self is always, also, incomplete. Responsibility is re-framed by the author of this essay as a position that accepts human limitations, instead of attempting to over-come limitations with strict moral codes for behavior. 6 pgs. sources.
