NGOs and Public Health This paper discusses the role of NGOs (non-governmental organizations) in public health around the world, showing how these organizations are able to cross borders and offer services that governments cannot or will not provide. NGOs role is becoming more important in an era of air travel when disease can be spread more rapidly by travelers and when some health problems are not confined by national borders.
