Galen of Pergamun: The Father of Pharmacology This paper is an historical piece about the life and contributions of Galen of Pergamun. Galen is recognized as the father of pharmacology and made many significant discoveries in that field as well as in medicine in general. His conclusions were accepted as dogmatic truth for fifteen hundred years until the Renaissance when a new evaluation of Galen's methods illustrated that many of his conclusions were in error.
