Efficacy and Safety of Phytoestrogen Supplements Taken for Relief of Menopausal Symptoms This paper describes the results of four studies intended to explore the efficacy and safety of soy, red clover, and ginseng in alleviating hot flashes. Estrogen is highly effective in reducing hot flashes and other problems associated with menopause, but can promote cancer. It is hoped that naturally occurring phytoestrogens might have the same beneficial effects with the negative ones. However, the studies were inconclusive; more research will be necessary.
