This paper considers how Sitting Bull has been made an American icon, represeting the Native American warrior from the era of the Indian wars and becoming one sort of icon to his people and another to white America after the frontier period, considering his role as a warrior, his time as part of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, his philosophy and historical role.
