This paper examines Chaucer's role as the narrator in the chapters of "The General Prologue" and "The Wife of Bath's Tale": Chaucer's personal impressions concerning gender issues are highly evident in the prologues to both of these tales, thereby demonstrating that Chaucer's function as narrator was to introduce his personal perceptions towards these characters. 3 pgs.
