This Five-page undergraduate paper critically reviews the classic nineteenth century story, 'The Yellow Wallpaper' by Charlotte Perkins Stetson Gilman. The story establishes the argument for which the author was firmly committed to, that women should be allowed to pursue their intellectual ambitions. Their isolation and economic dependence only leads to mental deterioration. The story was a sharp response to the social, economic and medical practices of her day. 5 pgs.
