Suicide and Family Dysfunction in Crimes of the Heart. In this essay, Beth Henley's play Crimes of the Heart is analysed. This paper argues that suicide is the key symbol of the family dysfunction in Crimes of the Heart, as it links the generations and allows audiences to focus on the pain, and the shared strength and family ties of the three Magrath sisters.
