Mysogynism in Literature: Understanding Female Passivity and Submission in The Rape of the Lock by Alexander Pope
In this paper we have presented the aspects of womenÂ’s morality and fidelity in "The Rape of the Lock", which Pope has lessened to such a degree that women should have not rights to decline a manÂ’s advances. In this manner, a woman should always show humor, even when her virginity is being threatened for a manÂ’s own vanity. By actively making the Baron a hero by cutting of BelindaÂ’s hair, Pope shows how little respect for womenÂ’s beauty and independence of thought in a patriarchal society.
