Mrs. Warren's Profession George Bernard ShawÂ’s play, Mrs. WarrenÂ’s Profession, at the time it written, it caused great alarm. It chastised government for their treatment of the poor and especially for their exploitation of women suffering from poverty. In this play, Mrs. Warren uses a profession, which the government of the time both condemns and denies, in order making a living. Her remorselessness about it and the lack of an apology or appeal for forgiveness stands as a tribute to ShawÂ’s ability to speak out against the injustices of society through his plays.
