Justified Martyrdom: Socrates and Antigone. This paper juxtaposes the deaths of Socrates and Antigone, comparing them on the basis of whether or not they died for their beliefs. The author presents the facts of both (fictional) cases, and argues that while both individuals did, in fact, die for their beliefs, Antigone died for impulsive actions while Socrates died for a lifetime of worthwhile critical inquiry.
