James Joyce and Gabriel Conway: A Comparative Anaylsis of Similarities

The author notes that a comparison of the character trait similarities between James Joyce and his fictional character Gabriel Conway reveals a consistent characterization pattern in JoyceÂ’s fiction, for they share the same intelligence, thinking patterns, and animosity towards their homelands. The Dead demonstrates that many of the characters in JoyceÂ’s novels were based upon his own personality, experiences, and perspectives, as the protagonists in A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Dubliners, and Ulysses have demonstrated.
