Argument Essay: A Central Theme of Leaving War Behind This paper addresses the books "Jarhead" by Anthony Swofford and Le Ly Hayslip's "When Heaven and Earth Changed Places". These books both share a theme of leaving war in one's past. Both memiors, Swofford defined himself as a marine and Hayslip was a Vietnamese peasant girl.
