This three page undergraduate paper examines evaluating why the Habsburg dynasty attempted to establish hegemonial control over Europe. It is evident that Habsburg policies were formulated in order to establish control over the most profitable regions of the continent for the benefit of the crown. In order to achieve this royal control, constant linkages within Europe had to be forged and reforged, for as soon as the Habsburgs established control over an area, covert and overt religious or political resistance always materialized in one form or another.
