The debates on sustainable development are now critical about the original UN definition of sustainable development. Using that broad definition, multinational corporations claim themselves as key agents of sustainability and cover up their part in environmental and social damage. Yet the common point of departure in the debates is the key concepts consisted in the UN definition. This paper compares different approaches to sustainable development.
