Sediments. This paper discusses sediments and what they are, where they are found, and the different categories of them. Sediments are particles that accumulate on the ocean floor. Sediments fall into three distinct categories: lithogenous, biogenous and hydrogenous. The overall volume of each category varies from place to place within the ocean basin, and is distributed as a function of deep ocean currents, prevailing wind patterns and local volcanism.
