The Need for Arts in the Elementary School Curriculum. This 3 page paper considers why there would be the inclusion of arts subjects at elementary school level. The paper looks at issues such as the development of transferable skills, the ability of the arts to motivate children of this age and also the way that the arts may also aid with the psychological development of elementary school children. This later aspect is considered with reference to the studies of well known psychologist Piaget. The paper argues that the inclusion of arts is not only beneficial for the children but also many other stakeholders through the indirect impact.
