Metacognitive Awareness and its Effect on the Students Ongoing Development as Successful Strategic Readers The effectiveness of metacognition as a tool used to enhance the studentÂ’s reading processes is debated. While metacognition has shown demonstrable success in enhancing the studentÂ’s ability to approach written material, this process has occurred with varying results.
