Theories of Regional Imbalance: Innis' Staples Theory Liberal Staples Theory. This paper discusses that relational approaches to thinking about regional disparities or imbalances include dependency theory, Neo-Marxism, the Hinterlanders' theory, and early Canadian economic history and political sociology, especially the theories of Fowke and Innis.
