The Privatization of Ontario Hydro - a 'Cost-Benefit' Measure
This brief paper refers to the recent problems in privatizing the former Ontario Hydro authority. Referring to a recent report in Toronto's The Globe and Mail, it is clear that private persons directly involved in the new Hydro One venture can be seen as a "lobby", all their own. Comparing Ontario Hydro with American privatization in the 1990s, this essay argues that there are drawbacks to privatization that have to do with hard transition periods, chances for corruption, and much else that does not suit the citizen's interest. 5 pgs. 2 sources.
