The Economic Effects on Canada of a Global Economic System. As a resource-based economy dependent on export markets, the effects of a global economic system are potentially very marked for Canada. If a global economic system comes hand in hand with free trade, liberalized financial institutions, and high mobility of capital and labor, Canada's probable outcome can be predicted by contrasting the effects of a global economy with those of the regional NAFTA arrangement.
