Policy Governing Tuberculosis Control in Canada. Tuberculosis as a global epidemic is specifically mentioned in the Resolutions & Motions of the Canadian Public Health Association. Before the 1950s, Tuberculosis (TB) was the number one killer of Canadians. Anti-biotic treatment allowed the disease to slip from view as one of minimal significance. This paper stresses TB's reappearance in Canada and its importance to Public Health in policy terms that often pertain to legality, as the disease has prompted a national policy against contagion and towards mandatory reportage of cases, public education, and increased research funding.
