The Sarbanes Oxley Act, as a mechanism for to build investors and regulators faith in the accounting profession as well as they system of investing as a whole, is something that is causing much work and money. Accountants everywhere and major firms are struggling with the ability to rebuild there credibility in the market place and build the publics faith that they are the safe keepers of money and not just good at numbers and sliding funds to inappropriate places without anyone noticing. However, at the core of it all, regulations will always have a loophole. There will always be someone that is smarter than the system and will break the rules because it is possible and because they donÂ’t believe they will get caught. The Sarbanes Oxley Act will do nothing to deter these people. Regulations are a way of placing guidelines and practices to ensure that the people with integrity know who to do their job correctly and to make sure that the data is clean and understandable to keep the investing arena as safe as possible a place for all involved.
