Individuals can and often do achieve great things. However, these risk-takers are vulnerable to the negative aspects of ‘going it alone,’ such as becoming the lone innovator and having to bear the brunt of being the sole change agent for large groups and organizations. The alternative, the formation of social or work teams, is more often used because groups, as a whole, have a better chance of producing higher quality work. In addition, teams create more opportunity for unique and improved decisions (i.e. the more heads put together – the better the ideas).
