Entrepreneurship as a Career Alternative for Women The five articles addressed here may be grouped under the category of entrepreneurship as a career alternative for women. The articles were selected with an awareness of the influence of context and environment upon women in their roles as entrepreneurs. Thus, the articles address not only women entrepreneurs in developed countries, but also their counterparts in developing countries, as well as immigrant/ethnic female entrepreneurship in the developed world. This selection allows us to assess the impact of environment upon these women's business strategies, as well as their coping mechanisms to address complex issues of cultural, social and economic conflicts in their roles as entrepreneurs.
