Contemporary Gender Discrimination in China's big cities
Introduction
An analysis of the current gender discrimination, i.e. discrimination against women, in the contemporary workplaces of ChinaÂ’s big cities reveals that the burgeoning country suffers from many of the same sexual inequalities as the contemporary Western world. Furthermore, the gender discrimination situation in China, particularly Shanghai and Beijing, serves as a valuable model and example of the on-going struggle for sexual equality, while posing interesting concepts to consider in todayÂ’s globalized world. In order to understand the current situation in contemporary Chinese metropolises and see its value as a model, it is necessary to begin with a brief history of the gender discrimination struggle in a country as unique as China.
