Herodotus - The Father Of History. This paper discusses the life and work of Herodotus, the first Greek historian. Broadly speaking, his magnum opus, 'The Histories', was a story of the war between the huge Persian empire and the smaller Greek city states. But this paper will not merely be a summary of the story, though it will be generally discussed. It will also investigate some of the reasons why Herodotus' great work was so significant for writers and historians thereafter.
