Political and Legal Issues: The Influence of Authority and Religion Regarding 9/11, Roe v. Wade and Gideon v. Wainwright In this paper religion has a strong basis in politics and in the legal aspects of American government. By allowing religious rhetoric in BushÂ’s plans for the War on Terrorism, we can surely see how Roe v. Wade was influenced by AmericaÂ’s dependence on Roman Catholic virtues and philosophical aspects of Aristotelian moral dogma. Also, religion was a catalyst that led to the rejection of British law, especially in the case of Gideon v. Wainwright. Religion in history, as well as in the present tense, influences political and legal aspects of American life.
