This essay discusses how the framers of the Constitution were concerned with equality, tyranny and the balancing of interests. The problem, however, was that the notion of equality did not include Black people. This is why, almost 200 years later, Malcolm X's criticisms of the system resonated with many Black Americans. He showed that the so-called democracy of America was actually a sham, because it did not include Black people in the context of true equality and freedom. 7 pgs. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
